The News: ‘The Male Brain’ Explains Alot. Dr. Louann Brizendine explains men’s actions in her book called, “The Male Brain.” In an interview on ABC News, she explains the male brain gives men natural and biological predispositions that need to be understood by women. She says men are always wanting more sex because that is the way they are biologically made, the sexual area of their brain is 2.5 times larger than in women’s brains, thus they will be thinking about and seeking sex that much more often than women do. Also, when women present emotionally charged issues to their men, they expect them to be sympathizing with them and engaging in their emotions. However, men will have to work at this because their brain switches to ‘analytical mode’ when presented with emotionally charged issues and their first instinct is to present a solution not to sympathize. So, men may have to take the scripted route and practice saying something like, “I know how you feel….” and not “you should do this….”

My Comments: I’m reading a book right now called, “The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands” by Dr. Laura Schlessinger. This book parallels some of the ideas from “The Male Brain.” It basically communicates that if we women can understand how simple men are and how easily we can meet their needs (and actually meet them), then they will reciprocate loving us, caring for us, protecting us and laying down their lives for us with ease and pleasure. I believe knowing about the male biological predispositions helps us women to have grace and understanding on our men when they are acting as they are created to act. I definitely think men should put forth effort to rise above their biological instincts to meet the women’s needs (e.g. sympathize, listen, cuddle, control sexual urges….etc), but women also need to fully understand their men and do all they can to meet their needs as well. It’s a simple formula to follow really and if followed, happiness is greatly increased.
