Rachel – Day 61

The News: Birth Rates Drop. For the first time since the beginning of the decade, birth rates have fallen 2% in 3% in women who are in their 20’s. Many think this decline is due to the recession. Women are choosing not to have children, or hold off on children until they can afford to have one/raise one.

My Comments: I actually think women are being smart here. Of course, no one will ever be ready to have a child, it’s never the “perfect” time is it? However, I think it’s wise to plan ahead when you can and when the entire economy has been through the ringer. If you’re not in a hurry to have kids and if you feel financially strained, then why not wait? The decline makes sense to me.
